March 1st- LT spent one hour in classroom showing how to use the projector as in link with shared writing and adding in and ICT goal like how to show capiatl letters. Modelled with a printed coloured keyboard for ch to easily see what was being pressed. Also set up coaching system example program was power point story template with paint box inserted. T goal to continue through class with coaching program and have class using book in writing time. Also to use projector every day in writing.
Jill's comments - the projector continues to be a valueable tool in class, and we use it throughout the day when we need to search out information together eg the meanings of word we come across in shared reading. Images to help us when we were looking for symbols to represent us and our beliefs when we made our shields.
The lap-top pod has also been a valueable tool this term as we used it as part of our Doctor Seuess theme that was integrated into our writing, reading,maths and topic. Specifically we were able to visit "Seuseville" as a maths activity. The children were very hooked on using Seuseville and wanted the website so that they could use this at home. The children used a variation of the coaching model to each each other how to get onto the website. We were also able to use the internet to explore onomatopeia - we then illustrated our fav 'sound' word. the kids were keen to get onto the computers to see what unusaul words that they could find!!! This really excited the kids to look for writing features....I also found out because I googled it - that Dr Seuss was the best example of alliteration - ok course I knew this right from the start!!!!
March-- I continued to use the projector as part of my shared writing program- I had to re vamp the layout of my classroom several times but am now happy with the easy access to the projector and mat area. The children have been engaged while using the projector and have benifited from the added ICT goal to my shared writing which I have seen them implement into their own typing.
Jill's comments - the coaching system didn't get completed for the whole class for various reasons, but I will use Kidspiration and the model again so that all children in the class can use this programme.
April - I have got the projector out again - the kids are thrilled we are using it before school to put up a brain teaser that we solve as part of oral language. We made a graph and looked at graphs off the internet - once again the kids were wanting the name of the site so that they could use it at home. We have also had the lap-top pod back in class and have used a modified version of the coashing model so far three experts have introduce kidspiration to two groups. The work they have completed as a follow up to guided reading is inspirational! And from the talk i have heard they are all on task too! Still not sure of the use of cords etc and the layout and best working spaces in my classroom - will try another plan next week!
